As discussed at the recent MCA meeting on Thursday February 13, the the Accelerated Moving Event (AME) at Gompers Park that was scheduled for February 24 has been pushed back to March 5 due to funding concerns. AMEs use HUD funds, and there have been threats by the Trump administration to halt federal funding for lots of programs.
With the recent vicious dog attack of another dog near the basketball courts off of Pulaski, the multiple tent fires off of Foster by the baseball diamond and the announcement of our Gompers Park Athletic Association cancelling league play at this location, we urgently request our members to send emails to the following officials and share your concerns, fears, frustration and demand that housing and other needed support be provided to the homeless, and that the park be made safe again for the residents in the 39th Ward. If possible, include pictures.
