The Restore Gompers Park Coalition is hosting a clean up and brown bag lunch at Gompers Park on Saturday, May 17 at 1:00pm, by the broken bench just north-east of the bridge closest to the Keeler parking lot.
Come out and meet your neighbors and help clean up the wetlands.
There will be a pot luck dessert table so if you want to bring a treat to share you can, but it isn’t necessary.
Alderman Samantha Nugent and Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer are hosting a property tax exemption workshop on Tuesday, April 8. Please call Alderman Nugent’s Office at 773-736-5594 to schedule a 15-minute consultation. If you wish to apply for the Senior Freeze, please bring tax documents from last year. This is an EXEMPTION-only workshop. Appeals will NOT be done on 4/8.
Mayfair Civic Association and Mayfair Park Advisory Council have organized a holiday dance performance by Thwack Dance on Thursday, December 12 at 7:00pm at the Mayfair Park field house (4550 W Sunnyside Avenue). Thwack Dance will be performing to J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. All are welcome to attend!
After the performance we plan to gather at the Irish American Heritage Center’s Fifth Province pub (4626 N Knox Avenue). There will be traditional Irish music performed live at the pub from 7:00-9:00pm, so perhaps we’ll catch some of it.
The 17th District Police Station is currently holding a coat drive to collect gently used, hats, coats and gloves to be distributed on 12/15. Donations can be dropped off at the station (4650 N Pulaski Rd).
Alderman Nugent is partnering with the Art Institute of Chicago to invite older adults in the 39th Ward to explore the Art Institute’s Modern Art galleries, see the special exhibition Paula Modersohn-Becker: I Am Me, and make art.
This event is FREE and transportation to the Art Institute is provided.
This event will take place on Tuesday, December 10th. Transportation and light refreshments will be provided. The Art Institute will arrange for pickup at Mayfair Commons (4444 W Lawrence Ave) and North Park Village (5801 N Pulaski Rd) at 9:15am on 12/10/24.

Alderman Nugent will host City of Chicago Chief Homelessness Officer Sendy Soto and representatives from City Departments for a Community Meeting to discuss Gompers Park and broader citywide homelessness initiatives.
The meeting will take place on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Mayfair Community Church, 5020 N. Pulaski Rd.
Pre-submitted questions will be given priority response and will be collected until Friday, September 27 at 12 noon. You may still register for the event after the pre-submitted question window has closed.
Alderman Nugent is holding a back to school block party on Monday, August 19 from 6-8pm at Park 593, 4546 N Kedvale Ave. There will be a backpack giveaway, live music, and free raffles.
