Zoning Update The Zoning Committee does not have any scheduled meetings at this time.
Adopt a Bumpout The Beautification Committee is looking for volunteers to maintain the new "bumpouts" (sidewalk planters) that will be installed in October as part of the new Lawrence Avenue Streetscaping. Volunteers would be responsible for weeding and picking up trash (plants are watered automatically). Bumpouts are located at the corners of Kenneth/Lawrence, Kilbourn/Lawrence, Kenton/Lawrence (2), Kilpatrick/Lawrence (2), and Keating/Lawrence. There are also three planters on Elston Avenue. Block Leaders Needed The Zoning & Development Committee is looking for volunteers to serve as Block Leaders for the Downzoning Project. Volunteers would be responsible for distrubuting flyers about downzoning and obtaining petition signatures for their assigned block or blocks. Looking for Suggestions for what kinds of businesses the neighborhood would like to have at the new Mayfair Plaza, located at the corner of Lawrence and Pulaski (formerly Dominicks). CAPs Meetings How can you help fight crime in Mayfair? Attend your local CAPs beat meeting. At CAPs meetings you can get to know the police on your beat and tell the police about crime problems on your block. Beat 1722 meetings are held at 7:00 PM at the 17th District Station Community Room, 4650 North Pulaski. For information please call the 17th District Comunity Policing Office at 312-742-4588.
